My client are a growing EDA development start-up providing tools for the rapid development of electronic systems which close the Software / Hardware Divide.

They are looking for a a technical Applications Engineer to join them, contributing both technically with hands on development but also to be one of the main company representatives engaging customers, contributing to conferences and attending exhibitions.

The successful candidate will have:

- Excellent customer facing skills

- Good programming experience for C++ based applications.

- Knowledge of VHDL/Verilog.

- Experience developing code for data flow graphs, compiler optimizations, high level synthesis a plus

- Project management experience.

- Previous experience of developing EDA software tools

Applications are invited for the following fully-funded PhD studentship:
“Interfacial structure in ionic liquids studied by synchrotron X-ray reflectometry and surface force balance”

Ionic liquids (ILs) are salts which exist in the liquid state at room temperature. ILs have an interesting and useful combination of physical properties, including electrical conductivity and extreme non-volatility, which are currently enabling many new technologies such as elastic electronics. They are currently a ‘hot topic’ in many areas of research from catalysis to energy capture and storage. Relatively little is known about the structure of this new class of liquids, especially at the interface with solid materials (such as electrodes). The aim of this project is to use a range of surface analysis techniques to investigate the structure of ionic liquids adjacent to solid surfaces. The principal techniques will be synchrotron X-ray reflectometry (carried out at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility in Grenoble), and the surface force balance (carried out in UCL Chemistry department). In this integral position, you will support 3-4 major electrical upgrade projects by: – Providing active project management in the field; including staff supervision, planning, change order estimating, execution and closeout. – Coordinating plan preparation, drawings, and/or sketches to illustrate project construction requirements on design-build and energy projects – Resolving design build issues. – Maintaining a positive relationship with our federal agency clients. To be successful in this position you will have: – Minimum 10 years of progressive management experience in construction industry – BS in Electrical Engineering or related field – Extensive experience/knowledge of electrical contracting, design, finance, and management – Knowledge in the start up, commissioning, and testing of electrical equipment – A thorough understanding of industry practices, processes, and standards and their impact on project activities – Familiarity with federal and local energy standards – Proficiency with PC based spreadsheets and word processing; Microsoft Project a plus. – Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously – Superior written and verbal communication skills – Excellent interpersonal skills – Ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance

Required Travel and Office Location:
On site presence is required at client sites approximately 3-4 days per week in the local DC metropolitan area
